The theme for this annual report was the completion and opening of the Walker’s massive expansion project. There are several narratives running parallel throughout this book: (1) The act of revealing occurs with the 10 gatefolds in the first section of the book, giving the reader a photographic tour of the building’s new and renovated spaces. (2) If the reader pages through the book — without opening the gatefolds — they see only black and white imagery of the past years events, along with the textual content of the report. (3) Another narrative is the long string of facts and figures about the expansion process that runs along the bottom of the book — the implied scrolling effect references the first version of the Walker’s dynamic marquee along Hennepin Avenue.
